Wedding Trend - Modern Monochrome

Wedding Trend - Modern Monochrome

The modern monochrome wedding trend has been popular for a few years and is still going strong, it's a trend that is open to interpretation and scope to make your own take completely unique.

A black and white colour trend is dramatic and evokes a sense of sophistication, elegance and glamour. Think bridgerton-esque balls, chequerboard floors and black tie.
When you choose a black and white colour palette for your wedding, one thing to consider is whether you will expand the colour scheme to include shades of grey, or even include another colour to contrast and pop.
Black and white doesn't mean boring and there are still ways to make this theme unique. Here are three ways to put an unexpected spin on the monochrome theme.
1. Throw the black and white theme on it's head and use the colours in unexpected ways, such as a black wedding dress or a white suit.
2. Using a strong contrasting colour to pop against the black and white can be a really unexpected, interesting and playful take on the monochrome theme. Think out of the box with this with colours like hot pink, yellow or more conventional emerald green or gold.
3. Choose either black or white to be the predominant colour and have most elements in that colour, with the opposite colour used sparingly for effect.
Although the term monochrome makes you immediately think of black and white, in actual fact, the definition of monochrome is 'representation in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour', so you aren't even limited to black and white with this trend.
Choosing one colour and using tonal variations works really well because it helps to keep your wedding theme cohesive. It also prevents you from being overwhelmed and makes decision making easier.
