Five Simple Ways To Elevate Your Wedding Stationery

Five Simple Ways To Elevate Your Wedding Stationery

Your wedding stationery will set the tone for your wedding, it will help build excitement and anticipation ahead of your big day. After your wedding it is something for you to keep forever as a memento of your special day.
If you are wondering how to make your invitations feel more luxurious or special, well don't worry! I've got some simple tips on how to elevate your wedding stationery into something truly memorable.
The Right Paper
Choosing the right paper for your invitations may seem like an obvious thing to say, or it may seem simple, there can’t be that many options for paper can there? Well, let me tell you, there is a LOT of options. You can have very textured paper, smooth and glossy paper or even handmade paper, they are all very different and when you are choosing you should select one that reflects your taste and the style of your wedding. For example if your wedding is a rustic wedding in a barn you probably wouldn’t want glossy paper as it doesn’t fit with that rustic, natural aesthetic.
The weight of the paper is also important, thicker paper will not only make your invitations feel more luxurious and substantial, but they will also be more durable, this also applies to envelopes. Heavier paper also doesn’t impact the price as much as you would expect.

Split your invitation up
Having numerous elements to your wedding stationery is not only helpful for your guests, but it can make your wedding stationery feel more luxurious. It gives your designer more space for the information and therefore you can create a beautifully designed stationery suite. Having separate elements also means that you can choose which ones you want to splurge on and which can be simpler.

Choose a unique shape
If you're looking to make a statement with your wedding stationery, consider choosing an unusual shape. You don't just have to choose the standard rectangle or square; think outside of the box! There are many different shapes that can be used for wedding stationery, from circles to arches and also shapes with a scalloped or waved edge. They look incredible, but can have a big impact on the cost of your stationery. If you go for a bespoke shape, it’s worth keeping it a standard size so that it can fit into a standard envelope size, or you will also need bespoke, handmade envelopes, which will also be expensive.

Hot foil printing
If you’re looking to give your wedding invitations a luxurious feel and have the budget for it hot foil is the perfect way to do it. The process involves making a metal die of your design and heating this before pressing it into the paper with the foil in between. Not only do you get the shine from the foil, but you also get an impression in the paper, which is beautifully tactile.
It can be used for entire invitations or just for certain elements such as monograms or initials on a letterpress invitation suite. If you really want to incorporate hot foil printing into your stationery, but your budget is tight then consider using it on your main invitation and having the other elements printed digitally.

Add finishing touches
A wax seal is a traditional way to seal an invitation, but modern wax seals are very beautiful and come in a range of colours and designs. You can have a bespoke design made such as your initials or wedding monogram or select a pre-designed one. Wax seals add a handmade feel and can be used in a variety of ways. You can also incorporate ribbon, twine or even elegant paperclips to keep your invitation together.
