15 Thoughtful Gift Ideas

15 Thoughtful Gift Ideas

We all know that best gifts are personal and thoughtful, that doesn't always mean the most expensive. If you're looking for a thoughtful surprise for a partner, a best friend or a family member, I've put together 15 simple but meaningful gift ideas that show you care, without spending much at all!

I've actually done a few of these (1,2 and 11) and my husband loved them, he still talks about them and the memory book is such an amazing memento to keep and even to pass onto your children.

1. A Jar of Love – Write down compliments, memories or reasons you love them on small pieces of paper and fill a jar. Bonus points if you fold them to make them into little hearts.

2. Memory Book – Gather photos, ticket stubs, and little notes to create a scrapbook of special moments.

3. Coupon Book – Make a book of thoughtful ‘vouchers’ (e.g., breakfast in bed, a night off from chores, a movie of their choice). If you don't fancy DIYing it, purchase a personalised gift voucher card here.

4. Playlist of Meaningful Songs – Create a Spotify or YouTube playlist filled with songs that remind you of them.

5. Handwritten Letter – Write a heartfelt letter telling them how much they mean to you.

6. 52 Notes for the Year – Write one small note of encouragement or love for every week of the year.

7. Framed Meaningful Quote – Buy, print or handwrite a quote that suits them and pop it in a simple frame. Take a look at my selection of personalised prints here.

8. ‘Open When’ Letters – Write a few letters for different situations (e.g. "Open when you need a laugh," "Open when you're having a bad day").

9. A photo book – Go through all the photos on your phone, pick out the best ones and create a book of photos.

10. Jar of Date Night Ideas – Write down fun, free/low-cost date ideas and put them in a jar.

11. A Box of Their Favourite Snacks – Pick up a few of their favourite treats and present them in a basket or box.

12. Printed Photo with a Personal Note on the Back – Choose a favourite photo and write why it’s special on the back.

13. "Things I Love About You" List – A simple but powerful handwritten list of all the things you appreciate about them.

14. Recreate a Special Meal – Make a homemade version of a meal from a special memory (e.g., first date, favourite restaurant dish).

15. Morning Motivation Cards – Write out positive affirmations or encouragement for them to pick each morning.
